He is impeccably, uniquely and historically credentialed, and from a stunning background of intellectual poverty. Fatherless at 5 years of age and raised by a single illiterate mother with no educational background, Winston yet emerged to become one
of history's greatest genius banks. And is now compared with John Stuart Mill, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein, among others in the historic halls of knowledge and accomplishment.
He won the Gold Medal in Political Science,Philosophy and International Relations at world renown UWO while also studying business, French and economics and at the world reputed Ivey School. WG did this after a remarkable high school career at Glebe Collegiate Institute, where he excelled in athletics (Athlete of the Year at junior high and high school levels, and lettered in over 10 collegiate events including as football quarterback, singles tennis and soccer player, track and cross country running competitor), scholastics (and across disciplines such as the maths and sciences, arts, linguistics and literature), the performing arts (and as lead actor, comic, singer-songwriter), and student politics, graduating at the top of his class each year (and as Ontario Scholar), and serving as class President during his graduating year.
After graduating top of his class at UWO, he then worked on Bay Street for one of the world's top five financial institutions - HSBC Securities, before pursuing a remarkable executive and entrepreneurial career in publishing, the hospitality and real estate development industry, and within the manufacturing sector. This involved him in launching new cutting edge publications across Canada, introducing a world ranking European styled health spa to the Canadian market, and assisting a Korean plastics manufacturer to penetrate North American markets. During this phase, WG worked with legendary entrepreneur and lawyer-producer Ben Wise, and investment advisor Jennifer Jackson alongside Neil Nisker.
Winston Tannis then went to law school on scholarship at Queen's University, having passed up offers at Osgoode Hall Law School, and graduate programs at the University of Toronto, UWO and York University. At Queen's Law School, he broke historic ground in founding a world leading peer reviewed law journal series and symposium, serving as Founding President, Executive Chairman, and Contributing Editor In Chief. This symposium focused on corporate and business law, finance and political economy and involved all sectors through his leadership. In turn, G7, World Bank, OECD and G20 intellectual data banks were transformed as well as all developed and developing economies. He was awarded a Platinum Pen for his achievements as a legal professional, policy and intellectual leader from Bay Street, and as part of the Davies, Ward Prestigious Alumni.
During his leadership over The Queen's Annual Business Law Symposium, he clerked for one of the most prestigious Chief Justices of the 20th century at The Federal Courts, and at The Supreme Court of Canada. A Chief Justice known as the modern architect of the Charter of Rights & Freedoms, and with both Harvard and Oxford alumni stature. Having clerked with both the Federal Court Trial Division, and Federal Court of Appeal, as well as the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada, he then went back to Bay Street to resume a corporate, environmental law, commercial, tax law sensitive, financing law, land use planning law and real estate practice with Stikeman, Elliott, as it then was - working down the hallway from legendary founder Fraser Elliott, a Harvard MBA Alumni, who took him under his wing as protege, and before former Olympian, Oxford Rhodes Scholar, Finance and Justice Minister, and Prime Minister John Napier Turner did the same at Miller Thomson ... ushering WG into global diplomacy, policy and higher level legal analysis.
At this stage, he had already become internationally famous as the ultimate offspring of Harvard and Oxford methods and analysis, and passed up opportunities to study at both international institutions, while continuing cutting edge work in legal studies and alternative dispute resolution. He then began serving as marquee international speaker on topics such as The Future of Mediation Models, The Struggles to Achieve Neutrality: A Solution, Cultural Variables and Conflict Analysis, The Relationship Between Counsel and The Corporation, ... and just after a historic and well deserved association with the Cite Libre liberal democratic brain trust, of the 1990s, resurrected by momentous Senate Leader Jack Hebert and the continuing supporter and Co-Founder Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who met WG for the first time at the famed Cite Libre monthly dinners in Montreal.
Then came an international writing and artistic career that has truly rocked the globe, and four periodicals and dozens of books later, he is still producing radiantly with WG FASHION being finalized for global launch and distribution in 2019. Whether Winston Tannis writes about politics, law, finance, economics, the arts, or literature ... he always rocks the field and the world. His insights are unique, and filtered and generated through his unrivaled and historic polymath genius. He did not think any of the doctoral programs were good enough or challenging enough for his accomplishments, so he created his own unique LLD qualifications, and no one has dared judge his genius and boldness on this matter. He has created a world leading learning center through which his theories and research findings may be known.
